On Wednesday, 25th September, during the EUPVSEC-35 conference, a key parallel event titled “Manufacturing Innovative PV Technology in the EU – Chances and Challenges” took place, bringing together three pioneering European innovation projects: IBC4EU, PILATUS, and PEPPERONI. These projects shared their efforts to drive the future of photovoltaic (PV) technology manufacturing in the EU, presenting both the opportunities and challenges facing the sector.
The event began with brief introductions from representatives of each project, followed by a dynamic panel discussion. The presentations highlighted the innovative approaches of these projects in advancing PV technology, while the panel discussion delved into critical topics such as technological growth, market demand, cost competitiveness, and the complexities of supply chains and regulatory frameworks. Industry leaders, market experts, and regulatory representatives engaged in lively exchanges, addressing key hurdles for the European PV sector, including global competitiveness and the need for a robust manufacturing ecosystem within the EU.
For PILATUS, our partner, MBCH, played an important role in contributing to the event. Attendees gained valuable insights into the future of PV technology, with a focus on creating a sustainable and innovative manufacturing foundation in Europe.
The event took place from 17:00 to 18:30, and the schedule included the following presentations:
- 17:00 – IBC4EU Project – Florian Buchholz, ISCK
- 17:15 – PILATUS Project – Gizem Nogay, Meyer Burger
- 17:30 – PEPPERONI Project – Fabian Fertig, Qcells
- 17:45 – Panel Discussion – Experts from the industry, market, and regulatory sectors
Through this event, the EU’s role in the future of PV manufacturing was further reinforced, with a clear focus on overcoming challenges and seizing opportunities for growth and innovation in the solar energy sector.
